Object Hyperlink

Object Hyperlink stems from Pilkington’s dissertation research around the meaning of materiality within physical and digital publications. Abstract to the human eye, QR codes act as tangible portals to the digital world. This project explores the intersections between the material and immaterial, challenging norms of how we – and our phones – read and access content through crafted permutations of QR codes. 

Rendered in wood, embroidery and print, each code can be scanned and leads to HowDoBooksFeel.com, an online repository of all Pilkington’s work that falls under the same project title, including her dissertation.
